Taliban terrorist attack on Afghan intelligence compound, 11 dead


Taliban terrorists conflicted with security forces followed by a car bomb blast at an intelligence compound in northern part of Afghanistan which resulted in killing of 11 people and wounding of many more, said by the officials.
After the car bomb blast near the National Directorate of Security office in the Samangan province, shots were fired which wounded more than 40 people.

The attack claimed by the Taliban group on Monday actually took place at a government facility in Samangan province's capital city Aybak, near to an office of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), the main intelligence agency of the country.

Mohammad Sadiq Azizi, a spokesman for the provincial government said,"It's a complicated attack that started with a car bomb blast."

The attack finished after four gunmen died during the clash with the terrorists, he added.

Officials said that the 11 people who were killed in the conflict were security personnel. The province's health director, Khalil Musadeq said that 43 civilians including children, and members of the security forces were wounded in the attack.

A government employee who works near the attack site, named Haseeb said that "It was a huge explosion that shattered our all windows." He said "Many people have been wounded by the flying pieces of glass."

Taliban's spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said the armed group that are active in the province and have stepped up the attacks there recently were actually behind the bombing.

Afghan president Ashraf Ghani condemned the attack in the province and accused the Taliban of trying to strengthen their hand before any compromise.
