PTA will decide on taking off ban on video game: PUBG today
PUBG is a video game developed by South Korean company designed in 2017 in which players are dropped onto an island to battle it out against others.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will decide today if either to prolong or remove the ban on popular online competitive video game Player Unknown's Battle Grounds.
A temporary ban was levied on the game on 1st July. over numerous complaints against PUBG wherein it is stated that the game is addictive, wreckage of time and poses a serious negative impact on the physical and psychological health of children.
Justice Farooq asked the PTA lawyer that whether PUBG is a game or a website. He replied with, PTA had banned the link for the game all over the country. Justice Farooq reminded PTA that whatever action they take, must be according to the law. If you want put a ban on it, you must mention what law the game violates, he replied.
The court sent the petition to PTA. The PTA will make a decision on the petition by July 8, the lawyer stated.
Several petitions were filed against the ban in the Sindh High Court and in the Islamabad High Court. On 6th July, the Islamabad High Court sent the petition against the banning of PUBG to the PTA.
