Iran's president banned weddings and large gatherings to stop virus spread
Iran's president Hassan Rouhani banned big gatherings like weddings on Saturday to halt the spread of the coronavirus, but alleged Iran's economy to stay open. After Rouhani's speech on television, a police official in Tehran announced close down of all big gatherings including weddings and venues in the capital until further notice. Iran has been gradually decompressing its lockdown since April's mid, but has recently a big rise in the coronavirus infected patients chart. The death toll on Saturday increased by 188 over the anterior 24 hours to 12,635, whilst the total number of coronavirus positive cases reached is 255,177, increased by 2,397 by the same period, Iran's Health Ministry spokesperson Sima Sadat Laro said on state television.
President Rouhani said that We must ban ceremonies and gatherings all over the country, whether it be wakes, weddings or parties, also said that Now is not the time for festivals or seminars, adding with,"Even university entrance exams may be also postponed."
