Corona virus' peak has passed, says health minister

Lahore: Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Punjab's health minister, stated on Thursday that the coronavirus cases peaked in June and were now declining.
The statement came days after the chief executive of Mayo Hospital, Prof. Dr Asad Aslam, who's leading the coronavirus campaign in Punjab, said a similar statement claiming that June 12-13 was the peak of the virus in the province.

He said that the hospital was receiving 100 carping and serious patients daily on average in the mid of June, which are now declining slowly, and have declined to 5.

Dr Yasmin Rashid stated speaking to a media house that,"It appears that the peak time of the pandemic has passed in June". She also added that a "smart" lockdown will be imposed in the virus' hotspots under the government's new quarantine strategy. The minister said that the smart lockdown imposed in worst affected areas of Lahore stopped a big number of positive cases and insisted on the people to continue taking safety precautions and respect the lockdown to be safe and secure from the virus and its effects and keep the virus away.

The patients recovering from the virus will also have to follow the safety measures, she insisted. Dr. Yasmin shut out the possibility of the recovered patients dealing the virus again in the next 6 months. According to her, plasma collection facilities have been set up in Lahore and other cities of the province and are working on daily basis.
